Good question, I bought it to go with my early (1975) 915. It came from Tom Butler in CT. How do I identify the year?
Edit: I took the casting number on the base - 911 424 019 06 and put it into Pelican Parts search and it came back with "Shifter Base, 911 (1974-86)". So I'm going to say it will fit all 915 transmissions. It is for a 5 speed, btw. Tom

I compared this to my factory short shift and this is definitely a stock shifter.
