FS: Freshly built 2.4L Short Block on a 7R Case
SOLD!!! $4000 plus shipping from 93561
Case number is 6139420, typ 911/96 (came from a ’73.5T). Have a good look at all the pics. What you see is what you get. I built this up for a friend that thought having an extra motor around would be cool, but the realities of the costs involved hit home and he wants to get his money back out of it. Walt at Competition Engineering did the case and connecting rod work for me. Rods were rebuilt to stock specs. Case work included the oil bypass mod, Casesavers for the head studs, tranny studs, IMS studs, and a couple other spots that would not go to torque. He also cleaned up the line bore (still std) and kissed the spigot diameters and faces. Squirters are all good. He also inspected the crank for me. It has had a good life and remains std/std. The number 8 bearing is also still std. For assembly, I built up the IMS using all new gears, got an excellent used 4-rib SC oil pump from Tom Butler, and all new Glyco rod, main, and IMS bearings. The rod bolts are stock Porsche and the timing chains are the IWIS performance ones. All soft seals are Viton. The oil pressure pistons/springs/caps are all the new updated types. Four new chain ramps are in there, too. It is 100% ready for the next steps (head stud install, t-sat and pressure switch install, pulley/flywheel install) prior to p&c installs. I stopped at this point (page 136 in Wayne’s book :D) because all the next steps are rather “personal” choices. I have completely documented the build with pictures, receipts, and I have all the parts packaging. Heck, I even have a little video of the IMS gear backlash check. Buyer gets it all with the short block. It has all been done by the book. Goal was to build a solid/no questions bottom-end with all the right upgrades (but not all the super fancy race motor stuff). In the end I could not get myself to open the spigots up for a 2.7L build. Happy to answer any questions. Hoping this will get somebody on the road a little sooner than they originally planned. $4000 plus shipping from 93561. Please PM me if you are interested or need more info/pictures. I may post it over on EarlyS, as well. I have shipped an empty mag case before with head studs installed. This is certainly heavier, but I bet I can get there. Would prefer a local-ish sale in SoCal and can bring it down if need be (sooner than later). We can figure something out… http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987045.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987071.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987093.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987117.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987136.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987156.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389987171.jpg Thanks! |

Kinda surprised there has not been a lot of interest in this. Is it sticker shock? Did I stop the build too soon? Thought it was a good stopping point, but I have been wrong before! Willing to accept good feedback on this one. My buddy does want to get his money back out of it...
Thanks, |
bump for price drop...

Is this still available ? I may be interested if Walt has not started on my case yet. Is the short block still at CE? Steve
