Let's be clear

I want to clear the waters here.
On March 9 I saw the ad, I replied "I'll take them" and sent the following message.

The best man replied with this:

And that same day I paid his price thru paypal including his Paypal fees.

He apparently realized that he could get more for them and after being non responsive for five days and not posting to the fact that I had paid HIS price and that he had sold them to me, he returned the Paypal amount he had asked me for them with the message below:

After that I told him he could have asked me for more money and that I would have paid, but that it was uncool to accept my money for the amount he had set and then back down form a paid deal and return me my money. He asked me for $10,000.00 for them, for which I felt it was extortion and since I knew where there was a set of 959 mirrors for $ 2,400.00 I knew I could get those and teach this Bozo a lesson in the importance of keeping your word, so I let him think that I would pay him $9,000.00 over his initial amount for a couple of days, sue me.
I have my mirrors now and he has his for sale, nobody really lost, but this guy needed a serious woopin' because he has no idea of what ones word means.

I would like a set, and even pay up to $2,000 - but no way will I deal with this guy under any circumstances.
Karma works!

Thank you Enzo for outing this D bag. I think the mods should pull the ad for infraction of the rules of the board : No price stated

Roar hope you can find some elsewhere too. Keep the amazing work going !

To be fair, my intention was never to oust thebestman. Even when I felt frustrated that he went back on his word and he returned my payment, even when I felt angry from him trying to extort an absurd ammount from me so he'd sell the mirrors to me, I thought that when he realized that I had pulled one on him similar to what he'd done to me, he would realize how unmanly his actions had been and that we where even and keep this private. But no, apparently he thinks it's OK for him to be a jerk but it is unacceptable for others to go back on their word, to the point of publicly expresing his soreness thru that infantile post. That's when I decided to set the record straight and publicly put him in his place.
Sorry to all fellow pelicaneers who had to witness this matter which should have been resolved privately.
Cheers
M

enzoducoing, Thank you for clarifying the situation. I am totally disgusted with our "seller". I realize when you need something so rare you might ignore when they pay no attention to the rules. I have gotten so I generally ignore people who don't post prices/images/and location.

It sounds like you are a gentleman and I applaud how you exposed the truth on this.

regards,
JR

damn Enzo. Good for you with that response. It's funny how quick we jump on someone in a situation like this just because the first guy went off about it first.

That teaches us a little lesson I think so thanks. Got me thinking too... "bad seller" posts generally have a pretty similar sound to them and no one inherently wants to be ripped off so they generally wind up coming across as pretty honest, and usually true.

"bad buyer" stories just sound weird. Whinny. You can always sense the whine. Then they get weird again. They always leave me feeling like something didn't quite feel right.

Thanks for the insight and hopefully you got better mirrors at a fair price. I will say... DAMN that 959 stuff is expensive, but restoring one all the way would have to be a dream come true. Good luck with yours!

What a total D bag. I vote to ban him completely. We don't want that kind here.

Mirrors

Hi Guys, I'm the guy that is rebuilding the 959....
This guy contacted me to sell them to me and we agreed on 500$ for them! a little later he had put them on the classifieds due to being unable to send me an email with the pics...(quite unlikely)Apparently he got an offer for 1000$ and ****ed me over on a deal we made. Luckily for all of you, especially you who offered 1000$ for them- they are not the 959'ones.

Regards,
Roar

Sometimes the unfairness becomes fair, I recommend all of you to deal in a fair way, that is the only way we can help each other. If you make a deal, you stand for it-regardless. I have a saying: what comes around goes around!!

Not quite sure, but the 959 ones does not have the black rubber edge and also they have a 959 number.... At least mine two has...
I have seen a 911 with those before which I thought was 959, but they are not..

If the seller wants to get back and recover some of the bad behavior, now would be the time. I will make you a fair offer based on a little possibility that I can use some of the motor control on the left side.

Regards,
Roar

And, the 959' ones if I remember correctly, does not have the writing in em as it is an European car and not initially made for America. America is the only place I know off that put such an obvious message in the mirror...

Roar

The base looks like 911... does the 959 have a different base ?

I looked at 959 mirrors and they look alot slimer and taller with a different base

But doesnt all american cars usually have the "objects appear closer" on the drivers mirror, not the passenger side?
