I have to agree with black 993. Joined four and a half years ago with a post count of 98. That isn't typical of what we see of most scammers. Usually they have a post count of less than five and joined last month. I wish I was in Greece right now.

Highly doubt this is a scam. You don't have to have a 12,000 post count to be for real. Give the dude a break and let him try and sell his stuff.

I know nothing of the seller or the parts in question, and obviously am not suggesting people fail to carry out their due diligence. I just think accusing someone of being a "scammer" because he's located in Greece is unwarranted.
Agreed.

To be fair, I only suspected a scam because the price was waaaaay too good to be true. Being said, wish I was in Greece. GLWS, I'm sure it will move very quickly.

I emailed and asked simply where in Greece are you located ? Have traveled there before and know
quite a few Greeks here at home ...
Instead of responding ding to the seriously interested you choose to flame those that question your thread count and veracity ..
No response get my spider senses tingling more than anything ...Bert

Lightbulb forum guidelines that help us all

Hi newtek - I have a low post count and only one positive seller feedback thread on this forum after a few years.

If I were selling an engine and transmission, I’d follow Wayne’s guidelines...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/149727-read-me-before-you-post-guidelines-posting-forum-updated-9-28-2017-a.html

If you do this it will preempt the people you are wanting to avoid now.

So I’m interested and need your engine but without any of the information suggested Wayne’s guidelines, you might think I’m just another nutty guy. But am I ?

Regards,
Steve

There have been plenty of guys on pelican that don't follow Wayne's guild lines by not stating the price of what they are selling ... most get pulled or are ask to update the post with the asking price. Ive notice some members have been allowed though it's clearly against the forum rules rather than a suggestion ?

Reading this whole thread from the beginning, it's frankly the of the most hilarious threads ever posted on here.

1) Greece is not close. The bouncing price for this engine is not even worth it. Considering what freight costs, I have shipped things from countries like Central Asia, China, Japan, and Europe. Dealing with these countries and customs was sometimes a hassle. And the above countries are used to shipping to the States. What are you guys going to do, ship that motor in an olive crate?

2) Most of you act like it's a Carrera RS engine - or better yet an entire Carrera RS in the whole the way you are acting. It's a 3.2 engine and trans with no photographs on the main thread, not to mention anything about condition (really).

No wonder people get scammed. I'm not saying this is a scam, but you guys are acting like it's the deal of a century. It's in Greece for crying out loud. Italian customs is hard enough. Very hard actually. And you guys are going to ship or fly in person to Greece to save a couple thousand on a common 3.2 engine to ship when the time is...

3) It's a 12 hour flight minimum, and 6,000 miles away. I know the would has gotten smaller, and I've been over there, but I'm not going to fly 6,000 miles to buy a Carrera 3.2 engine when I can find one here. You guys are insane.

You guys do what you want with your time. If you were living in Italy maybe I'd make a holiday of it. Maybe. But what this has become is really funny.

Even if everything else works out perfect, the price is a moving target. Who knows what it will be when you show up at the seller's doorstep.

Are folks seriously pursuing this ?

Be careful with this seller, he's editing his original posts after he realized how fishy he sounds here. He's then commenting on items I'm selling as retribution? Extremely petty and childish in my opinion, not the kind of piece of mind when thousands are on the line for used parts
