Oil Press/temp gauge in `69 912
Hi all
I`ve bought this combi oil press/temp gauge for my 912 from 1969 and need an extra wire for the oil press... The question is: Is there a unused wire, that runs from the instruments/dash to the engine area, in the original wiring? or do I have to draw one myself? Thanks |

I know that in '68 there was a dedicated oil pressure wire bundled in tape and unused in front of the motor centered on the cross support. The 911 loom was used in the 912 so the extra wire was there, I used it for the same purpose.

Also check at the very rear of your car, inside the engine compartment below or around the receiver for the rear decklid latch - there should be 2 unused wires that are for the 911's oil level sender. Look carefully, as these are often covered with undercoating, paint, dirt, etc. These wires (IIRC green and brown) end at the front near the gauges. If you can't find one, you can always use the wire for the oil pressure warning light.
