About the steering wheel, butterfly button or not?

Please check out the steering wheel in my Porsche 912 - see my cars in my garage link. My horn is not currently in operation and I will look into this. Nevertheless can someone help with historical facts, please? I unerstand wood steering wheel was optional. Some cars have buterrfly buttons , others I have seen like mine, with no butterfly - I assume you honk by pressing the center. Are both original? Which years had the one mechanism and which the other?

Your wheel and horn button are correct for 65 and 66. The butterfly horn is for 67 and 68. Your 69 uses a completely different assembly. Do a search on the 912 registry BBS for facts and photos..........

Thank you Sabby,
You seem to know the answer... So what is it? How was the horn button on the optional wood steering wheel in 1969 ? I don't want to start another thread on another site if I can get the answer here :)

The wood wheel was not an option in 1969..... Leave as is (looks great) or go to a stock wheel to be correct.
