1968 912 Bleeder screw and points question

Hey guys,

Two quick questions regarding the bleeder screw for the rear calipers and the points.

I ordered 6 bleeder screws from Pelican and they fit the front calipers perfectly (using one on each caliper), however the rear calipers seem to be much bigger and the bleeder screws are too small. The rear also take 2 screws on each caliper. Pelican shows that the bleeder screws are all the same, so do I have different calipers in the rear? If not, where can I get the larger bleeder screws.

Also, the points set I received from Pelican are back wards and wont fit. I ordered exactly what was recommended however I need them reversed.....does that make sense? Anyway, where can I get a set that will work for my distributor............It is type 0 231 129 031

Thanks for any help.

You have a Bosch 031 Distributor.

The correct Bosch numbers are as follow:

Points 1,237.013.081

Cond 1.237.330.292

Rotor 1.234.332.215

Cap 1.235.522.059

I seem to remember the bleeder screws being the same size. Just take one out and go down to a parts house or one of the German car dealers. They should be able to match it for you.

If I remember correctly, my '66 has larger bleeder screws in the rear. (Two of them per caliper) The fronts have much smaller ones and only one per caliper. Do as Jaems suggested to find one or head to a U-Pull-It yard and look for matching size. I think most calipers now-a-days are metric so you might not need to find a German auto.
