Windshield removal/installation
Need to remove windshield to deal with some bodywork. Of those of you who have done this before, are special tools required to remove the chrome trim? How is it done? Possible to re-use some of the seals if in good shape, or are they destroyed in removal? Are some vendor's seals better than others? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The aluminum trim can be removed with a wide putty knife or something similar. Be careful as the trim is very easily bent or deformed. The clips will be destroyed and Pelican sells them as a set. You can then use a long flexible knife to cut around the window sealer as you'll see it is held in with that non hardening tape stuff. You can buy replacement at any windshield shop and you will have to clean all the old stuff off the metal and glass so the windshield will stick when you put it back. Good luck.

I pull the trim off and then use a wire (piano, unwrapped guitar string, safty wire) and poke it thru the gunk at the edge ot he glass and saw it lightly back and forth as you move it around the glass. This has worked for me in the past. When I say saw I mean pull it back and forth, this obvious ly means the top must come off while doinf this.

I think it's great that I have my original windshield, but there is a small chip/crack towards the bottom on the passenger side, and it seems to have gotten pitted over the years. Is there a way to refurbish it? Or should I just replace it? And where do I find a replacement?

A hammer or big rock works great!
