Hey SGB - Beautiful car! I actually do already have you in the mix....but I threw you in again just for kicks!!!! I like the pond/lake shot.
I hope everyone understand that this is just an informal screensaver of lots and lots of pics or OUR cars. The pics are in all sizes and shapes....and are posed, candid, or just plain artistic. There are over 800 really nice pics. I admit that I have returned to my PC at work and just sat down for 10 or 15 minutes to watch the photo's flash by (I have it set so that the pics cycle every 6 seconds). So far my favorite pics are of a line of 914s as far as the eye can see, and (I know this is sick) of a 914 in full flames!! But as far as I am concerned, no in-focus picture is unworthy. So send them on in. Maybe you will enjoy the final product as much as I already am!!

Potter-
As a thought, you could leave the smaller pix small. Perhaps they just appear on a blank background in various screen positions for intrest. That way small, blury, low-res pix don't ruin your presentation. But hey, just a thought. In any case I can't wait to see it done.

Actually, Jubal, that is what I did. The resolution on pics that were stretched big was awful. So, those that I could, I left small and they just pop up randomly on the areas of the screen. But I eliminated any that were just too tough to see due to size. I also have various screen transitions to add interest. Am at 800 pics.

That is a good question Bowlsby. I've put together a lot of pictures.....I think around 875 at last count. It may be time to draw the line. I put them in an actual "shareware" screensaver engine and that was pretty cool. I also have just had Windows cycle through them from "my pictures" in the core MS screensaver that comes with Windows. Any way you cut it it is a boatload of 914 pics that pop onto the screen about every 6 seconds.
My problem is figuring out how to distribute it to you. I had an offer to host it on a site for download......but given that it is comprised of pictures from all possible origins there may be some....errrrr....cough...cough.......teeny little copyright issues. I don't want to even get CLOSE to that headache. One thought is to have folks provide thier address here and I can just send out a compressed copy on a CD. People can then maybe just send me a little $ to cover the postage and the disc....I am NOT looking to make money on this.....just looking for a way to get it out that won't land me in the pokey and won't kill my bank account (there could be a LOT of people who want this). The file compresses to about 600MB......but the whole file will "inflate" to 1.25GB. If that is too big for your PC, you can simply go in and delete the pics you don't like until the file is of an adequate size. I would really love some input on this. Do any of you have suggestions? What do you think of the CD idea???

A Cd sounds fine to me...it would be cool if you were set up for Paypal; but thats just my preference. Either way I'm in!

That is big!!!! That would take like 5 days to download on a cable server, and maybe 5 hours to download with dsl or higher. I think that puting them on a Cd would be a very good Idea! I am guessing that there might be about 50 people interested in a cd (ouch on your part) and that 1.3gb is a BIG SCREANSAVER!!! speeking that I dont use a screansaver, lol. If you need any help, just email me man!

You know...to me 800+pics is way too many for one screensaver. Have you considered packaging them into smaller groups such as 914 race cars...914 Blue cars...914 details...914 Concours cars...914 Euro cars...1973 cars...914/only...etc? That way someone would only need a smaller package and if they didn't want to see everything...they could just choose between a smaller package.

Hey there Mr Potter! Put it in a Zip file. Then post it where we can down load it & we can un-zip it. I downloaded the whole Adobe Photoshop 7.0 in a matter of 2 hours via cable. should be able to do same.

I'm no expert, but I'd say that it would take some money to pay for that bandwidth!
Is there anyone here who is in a position to volunteer hosting a big file like this for a few days? I'd like to but I'm afraid my company would not let me...

Ask Wayne. I'm not sure how hard up we are for space or bandwidth, but the worst he could do is say "no"...
You can also ask Br@d over on the 914club board. --DD

tom, you said wrecks too. don't know if you lifted this one when i posted it. without the sour, the sweet isn't as sweet. this car will become I-beam material in about a week. 914 vs chainlink fence set in concrete.
