Doesn't quite look like it will happen at this level...

Wayne, thanks for at least taking a crack at the flare thing. Us 914 fanatics are a dedicated bunch, but we're unfortunately a tiny market, and that severely limits profitable product ventures. Too bad we couldn't convince the 911 weenies that 914 flares have top secret aerodynamic effects that actually add 10 HP (YES! PER FLARE!).
You mentioned you have a set of factory flares, did you have them scanned as part of your cost analysis? If so, any chance you could share that file?

Count me in for the steel flares for $499. I'll keep checking back for an update. Wayne, I read in a recent post that PP may be selling AA flares? When will this happen and what is the asking price?

It won't. There was not enough interest to justify the expense. And now AA's flares have finally hit the market.

i was actually thinkin about taking some designs from the other porsches, say boxster style
quarters and fenders or some other p model and put them on the 914, but would prefer the origanal 916 style, less work Last edited by apexnit; 10-27-2009 at 06:45 PM.. |

Apex, you're about six years too late on this... It didn't happen because while many people said that they were in, not enough actually put down their money.

Timing is everything. I remember talking to Bill Frey about steel flares when there were no aftermarket ones available and Porsche flares were $700 each. Someone else in Mich. was tooling up to make them and he didnt want to compete in a small market. I bought a set of George's flares and they are OK but I think the quality could have been better. I have an original front and I think there was one set of dies for left and right front. I think they hammered a little on the lower section to make them left or right, the difference is quite subtle.

I am in for a set. June would be perfect. When do you need a deposit, or $500

If you read the thread, you will see that the idea never got off the ground.
This is the second necromancy for this thread, I'm going to close it so we don't have more repetitions. --DD
