Type 4 Tune-up and maintenance video
I know most of us who have owned our Porsches for some time know how to do basic maintenance and tune up's, and we seem to do them all just a bit differenly than the next guy. I made this video for anyone who is new to the Porsche 914 or 912e community or for anyone that just wants to add more Porsche videos to their YouTube list LOL. Enjoy guys and gals.
And yes I know the car is a 1967 Porsche 912, but the engine is a 1976 Porsche 912E Type 4 2.0 unit. Brian ![]() https://youtu.be/Oz2RWFavT7g |

I plan to install a 914 engine in my 66 912 this year. Did you swap 5th gear out of your 901, how did you make the motor mounts. Don Jackson is a very reputable place in Phoenix, knew Don many years ago when he was still around. I see you are in Gilbert, I’m in Mesa and Phoenix. We will have to chat. 70 914 71 914 66 912 67 912 66 912 76 911 82 911 SC |

I didn't hear you mention how absolutely critical it is not to overtorque the oil strainer nut. The spec is 9 lb-ft. As in, less than 10. Use much more (even "gutentight" can do it!) and you will bend one of the through-bolts in the case that the strainer hangs off of, and you can easily break the internal webs that support that bolt.
And the camshaft. One of those webs also supports the cam. You might have mentioned it in passing and I missed it, but it's important enough that you might want to take a bit of time to call that out specifically. --DD
