G-Tech/Pro Competition????

Looking over this item on a supplier's site (who shall remain nameless .

It provides all kinds of info (G-force, acceleration, distance, horsepower, etc.). A lot of the data it provides can be documented in other ways, but if it really does it's job, or even most of it's job, it could be useful. I'm considering sharing the cost of one with a friend.

Anyone own one of these?

Are these just a piece of crap? Or a useful gizmo?

What's the skinny?

Ignor image below - just a test.

How can we ignore the image below? IMPOSIBLE!!

On the gtec, the new gtec has some cooool new features. ie Graphs for hp/tq and the ability to download those graphs to your computer, ie perfect dyno!!!!! plus a ton of other little do goodies! My father is getting one, i expect alot from these little things, IMHO a must when tuning and modifying your car.

I measure performance gains by comparing my times to 4 or 5 other guys at the local AXs. More fun and cheep, too. I find myself with entirely too much data to process after a session as it is.

As any good fisherman will tell you: lures are designed to catch fishermen, not fish. I ended up with quite a collection........

So, Joe, have you AXed that thing (with all them new goodies) yet this year

I bought the G tech a couple of months ago but just got around to hooking it up in my car this past week. I plan to take it to the track for the first time next weekend. It seems to be a well thought out piece of equipment that gives a lot of good information. But after spending a small amount of time with it I can see that it has a big flaw for my purposes. It will only record 50 seconds or 4000 ft. of driving. So on a road course that's not even a full warmup lap. Since I really don't want to be staring at the small screen while I drive I hoped to be able to record and download a hot lap or two for analyzing but that's not going to happen. I have a feeling I'm going to play with it for a weekend or two and then it's going to sit in the closet.

Drew, I bet you could hook it up to a laptop right? nice cheep 100 buck laptop and feed the info straight to there for a whole days worth of track times? Just a possible suggestion. if it is possible.

I'm going to contact customer support and ask if there's a way to increase record time. The way it's built it's best suited for drag racing which I don't do. "Honest officer, I wasn't racing, I was just testing my new G-Tech."
