Mystery ??Hose?? Port

While installing my hose kit I spotted this port on the driver (left)side of the engine (circled in yellow), does anyone know what is attached to it? There is no mention of it in my hose diagram?

Thanks,
~Eric

that would be for your charcoal canister, hose blows air through a hose, which hooks up to the plastic hoses in your engine compartment, then up the longs and into the vapor recovery system, the other hose hooks up to the air cleaner.

I've got those ports on both sides of my engine tin. I've got the charcoal canister in the engine bay on the battery side. Nothing is attached to the other port on the drivers side, looks just like yours is in the photo.....

I have same. Check Dave Darling's hose diagram in the tech articles....they (there are two....it's a round trip to the charcoal) are represented.

BTW - for what it is worth, and I have no idea why, but the car ran better when I hooked the hose back up to it.

Some cars had ports on both sides, some fan shrouds have a port as well. Cap off the ones that aren't used--it's not critical, but it's nice to think that you're keeping all the cooling air that isn't being used for something.

The routing is: Engine tin (or fan shroud) to one side of the cannister, other side of cannister to air cleaner, small line from the gas tank "expansion chamber" to small port on cannister. I never remember which of the two larger fittings is inlet (engine tin) and which is outlet (air cleaner).
