Clutch cable stretch?

So, a few weeks ago I installed a new Clutch cable from our wonderful hosts...works great...

But it seems that it's getting a little looser and looser since install.

I know the original stretched until it broke but when newly installed should I expect to get under there every few weeks to tighten it up until it's "broken in" maybe?

Thanks as usual guys.

Get out your flashlights and mirrors and start checking the clutch tube in the center tunnel. It may very well be broken loose from the tunnel and moving around...

There, and up front by the pedals, and through the holes in the tunnel by the gear shift lever, and.... Pretty much, everywhere you can.

I mistakenly did a whole clutch job over that when I first got my car, so consider yourself lucky that you know where your clutch pedal went.

A couple of things to check before you panic over the clutch tube: First did the cable ferrel seat fully over the outside of the clutch tube? If not it is seating in and can make it loose. Second, do you have DOUBLE nuts on the cable at the clutch lever? A single nylock nut will slip very slowly. A finally is the jam nut tight on the cable at the clevis at the pedal cluster? If not the cable will work loose. Good luck

Also, is the little ball inside the bell housing that the arm rides on clearanced properly? If not, your arm could very well be leveraging itself on the housing proper which causes a tighter than normal clutch pedal and continuous cable stretch until it breaks. BTDT..pch

Thanks, John--I totally forgot about the cable adjusting nut! Found that one out the hard way, too!

BTW, the nuts on the cable are M7. M8 will fit, but won't last one pedal press. They'll fly across the garage and hit the wall....

Peter, the bellhousing? Do you mean the tranny itself?

John, I do have both nuts on the back end and I did make sure they were tight - I'll check that again (was the first place I planned on checking actually. I should also check the clevis on the front end as you mentioned.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll be able to get under it tomorrow.
