Engine turning over slow, hard.

Hey guys, I finally got to work on my 1.7 today.

I put in a pentronix ignition and new coil. I have the battery strong. I adjusted the distributor to point to TDC to at least get her to start and go from there. She has a very hard time turning over when I use the key. Nothing is smooth. It is like there is a struggle going on somewhere. She never did this before. I pulled a couple plugs and she is still doing it.

Any ideas?

Does it turn over easily by hand? If so, I would check/replace the starter. Otherwise it might have something wonky inside the motor.

Turned out distributor was not pointed correctly and causing this. I had this happen before and for the life of me could not remember how I fixed it. Got her running now.

I just finished watching Denzel Washington's new movie " the little things". Well yes, applies to cars as well. Check the ground strap from transaxle to body, clean the connections with sandpaper. Do the same thing from neg terminal to ground and from positive to the starter.
