MPS Experts - Multimeter?
I'm ready to adjsut my Manifold Pressure Sensor and researching the correct multimeter. The ones that I've seen on this forum (two of them) seem a bit scarce and pricey. I did find one, I think, will work. It has the "H" setting that seems to be needed for the adjustment. (Set at 20H). Does anyone know for sure, this meter is correct?
Thanks in advance

That may work, I dunno.
The meter used by Anders was a Wavetek LCR55, now made by Amprobe. |

Yea, I've seen the two other meters. But I think I may be the guiney pig for this less expensive alternative. Especialy, since I'm trying to figure it out as I go along.
I'll update, with hopefully a new tool that works. Thanks. |

Bought the new meter, it arrived and now tryng it out. I'm still working on the MPS adjustment but I belive this multimeter is a "Win". Here's a few pix so we know what it is and what it looks like. $17. on ebay compared to $150 on up for the other recomended one.
At 0 vacumm it shows .81 (not perfect yet) At 22 inhg it shows .56 (very close) ![]()

I’m no expert but things don’t sound right. 0 vacuum should be somewhere closer to ~1.50 22 in/hg is way too much you could damage that new diaphragm. Don’t exceed 18In/hg.

Yea, I've read sooooo many different posts on these things. Even YT videos on testing. Many, many different opinions and ideas on how to test and adjust. Mostly, test. I've heard up to 25 in/hg for the top limit. I was going off a chart that showed increasing vacuum along with the corresponding meter reading. But, when I got one of the readings right and the other extreme, "closer", the car ran worse. I finely decided to buy a new (remanufactured) MPS with the correct 043 part number. I've read post were the 049 will work and some post say you need the correct one. If this doesn't work, it's lighter fluid and a match. I may be to embarrassed to post another failure.
Thanks for the feedback. |
