73 914 Center Console removal?

New 914 owner here. Doing the fuel line swap to Tangerine and trying to figure out how the center shift console is anchored on the rear?! Nor visual clues but it's anchored to something. I see the screws at the top or the console but not the bottom.

Any tips?

Slide the gauge panel out of the way and look down behind it. Should be a small screw into the tunnel right under that. Some aftermarket consoles might have one under the shift plate too, also into the tunnel. I think there is also a tech article here that goes into detail on the console install and removal.

Yea, non of those articles came close to reality, which even after pulling the seat, was just pull it apart and toss it in the corner to be rebuilt..

once the bottom panel is removed the section closest to the lift up box has a rectangular bracket attached. It has a slot in it for a spring clip for the removed bottom panel. That bracket is U shaped laid on it side & there is a phillips sheet metal screw holding the bottom of that U to the top of the tunnel that you access through slot.

Thanks, everyone. I got it out and rebuilt it. Ready to go back in when I get around to it.
