914 1.7 liter Fuel Injection on 2.0 liter
Can the fuel injection system on a 1.7 liter 914 engine be used on a 2.0 liter 914 engine? What changes might be required?

I’ve read where it will fit and work fine. There is a screw on the brainbox of those 1.7 MPC engines that you can tweak carbon monoxide for a slightly richer mixture.

different injectors - "green ones" most likely higher flow capacity

There are three 914 Fuel Injectors by Bosch that are green.
The part number for a green 1.8 liter injector is 0280 150 112 with a flow rate of 190 cc/minute at a pressure of 300 kPA (43 psi). The part number for a green 2.0 liter injector is 0 280 150 019 for a 1973-74 unit with a flow rate of 380 cc/minute at a pressure of 300kPA (43 psi). The part number for a green 2.0 liter injector is 0 280 150 038 for a 1975-76 unit with a flow rate of 380 cc/minute at a pressure of 300kPA (43 psi). Due to the high cost of factory injectors, I have purchased from Rock Auto a Standard Motor Products injector for a 2.0 liter 914. The part number is FJ67. The flow rate is 415 cc/min at a lower pressure of 248 kPA (36 psi). |

I haven't seen any green 1.8 injectors. I wonder if they are from a different application? Usually the 1.8 ones are blue.
When I had a mixed batch of early and late 2.0 injectors cleaned and tested, there was no significant difference in flow or spray pattern that the testing company found. --DD

According to a posting elsewhere on this site, the flow rate for the 1.8 liter fuel injector is 318 cc/minute rather than 190 cc/minute. Also, the color for the 1.8 liter fuel injector is described as being blue rather than green.

The Fuel Injection runners need to be changed because the 1.7 liter runners have 4 bolts at the connection point with the 1.7 liter head and the 2.0 liter runners have three bolts at the connection point with a 2.0 liter head.
The 2.0 liter head has 3 studs for connection with the intake runner. Also, the diameter of the intake runner is larger with a 2.0 liter (36 mm) compared to the diameter of a 1.7 liter runner (34 mm). The runner boot needs to be changed from a 1.7 liter boot to a 2.0 liter boot. |
