Pedals Squeek Even After a Pedal Rebuild

Help!

I have rebuilt the pedal cluster using all brass bushings. I used white lythiam grease on all of the bushings. I installed a new clutch rod since mine had significant wear at the cable hook up area.

Everything was smooth and quiet but suddenly started squeaking.

This is the second time I have taken the pedals apart & greased them - what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I thought the bronze bushings were supposed to be self-lubricating...

I know I am!

If it is the clutch pedal that is making the noise - check the pully wheel on the transmission, when it makes noise it sounds like it coming from the front.

Check all the moving bits. That includes the clevis where it pokes through the clutch arm, the pivot for the brake pushrod, and the pivot and ball-and-socket joints on the throttle bellcrank.

Check to make sure the pedal cluster is securely held down. Sometimes the weld-nuts break, or some of us forget to put all the bolts back in.... (Nope, never happened to me! Honest!! ) Sometimes the floor pan in that area gets weak from rust.

The bronze bushings are self lubricating. A machinist friend of mine told me that when machining, oil comes out and the parts get difficult to keep secured.SmileWavy
