914 seats / is there a difference in the year

I recently purchased a pair of mismatched 914 seats and have no idea what year car are they from. Does it make a difference when buying the replacement leather for the seat?

1. Is there a difference year to year seat structure? (material makes no difference to me, I going to cover with tartan anyway)
2. Is there a difference left to right? (beside one moves the other doesn't)

I have I am not looking for answers that have anything to do with "What belongs in the car" its an Outlaw build, originality means nothing to me.

Early cars, passenger seat was fixed. All the upholstery kits I have seen are for 70-76

As far as I know the recovering kits are sold as fitting 70-76

There are differences from side to side. The back side of the headrest has opposite angles; the edge slopes down toward the outside of the car. And the driver's seat has a divot next to where the handbrake handle sits.

I think--but am not sure--that on 70-72 driver's seats the divot is smaller than the later cars.

Obviously the 70-71 passenger's seat is fixed.

@racerbvd you have 1 Recaro seat or 2?

djpateman 03-05-2025 01:51 PM

DD is correct. The 70 & 71 has a completely different passenger seat. 70 to 72 drivers seats are the same but 73 to 76 the drivers seat has a bigger relief for the parking brake handle. The leatherette changes for the 75 & 76. As stated by DD the headrests have different angles.

Only one, not for sale,as it came from a friend, whose uncle bought it and a914-6 race car he had built and raced when they were new.

It is the polite thing to do.
Do you still have the Lotus? Those are a blast on the track, I can only imagine how much fun it would be if you had the feet the size of a asian child.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1741534619.jpg

There are differences from side to side.
