Tire Pressure
What tire pressure do most people run on their 914?
I have a '76 with Pirelli P3s. I have been running at 32 psi (cold) on all four tires. Today is a hot day, and the car is riding like a buckboard. After a long highway drive, I checked the pressure, and they are up to 40 psi. (no surprise here) The info plate on the car says 26 psi front and 29 psi rear (cold). These sound low to me. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!! |

26 front/29 rear sounds about right, and no, that isn't too low; I've been running 27/29 on P205/60R-15's and it rides just fine. 32 PSI is WAY too high; your car must be dartin' about like it has a mind of its own.
Unless you're looking to loosen every nut, bolt, and your fillings, drop the pressure to what's recommended and see how that feels; than season ± 2 PSI front/rear according to taste.

Thanks.
I'm going to try it now. I'll post my thoughts later.

I run 32 PSI all around and live with the ride. It gives me better grip (on street tires) than lower pressures. Another one of the trade-offs you can make with these cars...

I go 32 also, stock tire though, I worry that low pressures would also risk my rims more often... what with all the new asphalt canyons we have here.
Last week, a guy was reported missing. His CRX showed up in a pothole this morning, and a search party returned from deep in the pothole this evening with evidence he had gotten lost, and traveled west. Anyways, 32psi.. M
