Someone else needing drug money
One of these was just given away this last weekend and I have seen them for less than 100.00 on Ebay with the Buy it now option. Who does this guy think he is trying to gouge?

Hey Scott....
Speaking of "EvilBay"....I'm jealous of those heat exchangers you picked up the other day....a good buy! I meant to bid, but forgot to amongst the holiday weekend cheer... Sometimes eBay stuff does come thru... Mike

I sent him an email and he lowered his price now and took off the reserve, For those who didnt get to see it, he had a starting price of $275 with reserve not yet met. Now he is down around the price that AA posts them for on Ebay.

Dear Sir,
I appreciate the fact that you took the time to make yourself look like a jerk- in writing,no less. Based on your email I did quite a bit of research, first through the 914 clubs and then with a phone call to Auto Atlanta. I spoke with a gentleman there who refers to himself as "Dr. 914" or George. What I was told by this gentleman is that they DID NOT have this particular item. I was also told that the price was going to be dependent on the old adage "supply and demand". He did mention, however, the one comment that you might have been somewhat in the ballpark on, was that 914 rear windows do not have a tendency to fog up-so this glass might not be incredibly desirable based on that factor. I did mention your eloquently worded email and his response was "awwww, there is always one of 'em out there". I have lowered the price on this window, not because of you, but because of "the Doc" and his insight. Thank you though, you gave me an opportunity to learn more about these vehicles, to make a GREAT connection with Auto Atlanta, and have a good laugh!! Best regards, Angie

I thought the little lines were to mark the water level trapped in the car after a gulley washer.

Have it in both my cars. Lets see. Raining? car stays in the garage. Snow? Car is parked from October to April. Even when I had a daily driver, I don't ever recall the rear window fogging. The only thing it's good for is so you can have a fully optioned rusty car.

Shoot, I was going to pick one of those up for $9.14 a few months back, but I had no use for it and I didn't want to break my $100. I should have got it, I could have E-bay'd it off for $914!

Sorry, I wouldn't trust anyone who claims to be a doctor of anything without the credential indicating as such on the wall, unless UCLA has a doctorate program on the 914 that I don't know about.....
The rear defrost glass is not that rare (try finding a 100L factory fuel tank), if it's clean, unchipped and the defroster lines are unbroken and crisp, it's worth a "C" note.

I polled the people here a while ago on what a used, refurbished transmission is worth, one where I've gone over it and replaced questionable items with good used one and resealed it. I even went as far as putting a warranty on the tranny. The concensus was $750 with a core return.
I put up a couple on e-bay and the price was significatly less. Even when _WE_ can agree on a value, the true value is what people are willing to pay. And in the 914 community, it ain't much. We are a bunch of cheap @ss b@st@rds! James
