Finishing Someone Else's Botched Job…
The upper transmission fill plug on my 914 had been rounded out by someone in the past and rather than figure out a way to remove it and replace it had drilled out the magnet and installed a tiny rubber plug. Took me 2-1/2 hours to finish the job. I had to dremel the internal recess of the plug somewhat 6 sided to insert a male fitting and tried to manually wrench it out. No luck. Then removed a rear tire and connected all my 1/2” extensions to around 2 feet long to my electric torque wrench and hit the trigger. Thirty seconds later no luck. Running out of ideas I lastly heated up the damaged plug and surrounding area with a propane torch and then applied the torque wrench one more time. Five seconds later the plug spun free!
Two new plugs and new fluid now installed. It’s been a great day!!! 😊 ![]()

Ah, that's why it looked so strange in the pic you posted a while ago!
Glad to hear you got it out; for some reason people really love to reef on the fill plugs. (And not just in Porsches; I had a Honda CRX that laughed off an open-end wrench on its trans fill plug. Luckily a box wrench did work--I didn't have room to put a socket on it!!) --DD
