Wheel Stud Drill Size?
I am drilling out my 4 taped holes on my rear hubs and front rotors for studs. I tried a 9/16 drill but that was way too tight. There was no reasonable way the stud would press in.
What reamer size works best here? Or, how much of an interfearance fit should I shoot for? I do plan to tack weld the stud after its in and torqued to a wheel. Thanks for the help. -Brett |
It depends on the knurling diameter off the stud.
You'll also want to add a very small chamfer to hole before pressing in the stud. Sometimes the material can be deformed enough to not allow the wheel to sit flat against the hub face. |
