Talking i polished my rims with pics

i was going to have someone do my rims for me.....but around $800 to $1200 when all was said and done...decided to give it a shot myself...how hard could it be... ...first i used a fine wire wheel on a drill to remove the coating....then sanded by hand with 180 then 220 then 600 wet then 0 steelwool then 000 steel wool then wheel polish......last but not least tape them up and paint....i was so surprised how great they came out....if you have then thumbs and elbow greese....do it yourself...you will like them even more.... ...the pics show before ...after...tape and paint....cant wait to get them on the car......

Nice work

They look much better now. What did you use for a compound? Hours on the wheel?

Cheers

I did the same thing with my 4-lug fuchs a while back. First wheel took days. the other three about 3-4 hours each.

Thumbs up

really nice. I was thinking about doing this with my cookie cutters but have never done wheels before. I feel more confident now. What paint (and polish) did you use?

You have a problem holding a pencil now, huh?

I hand finished a Mustang I painted once, sanded between every coat, then sanded and polished over the clear (white paint job)..

I'll never ever ever do that again. I ended up taking 2 days to #7 it.. ouch.

rub rub rub rub

tack tack tack tack tack.. jees.. you could swim in that paint job..
