2 part brake light question

Question 1) It seems my brake lights (and Horn) only work with ignition on. With key removed neither work.

Question 2) With brake lights on the right side rear blinker works fine, but on the left side the blinker light doesn't light but the brake light and backup light blink very dim and slow. With the brake lights off all is fine.

I know this sounds like a short, but where.

I'm not sure if this will be any help, but I was having strange lighting problems on my 74. It turned out that my hazard light switch had fallen apart, and power for all of the marker and signal lights runs through it. Sometimes it would make contact, and sometimes it wouldn't. Took me a while to figure that one out. Also, make sure all of your grounds are good.

Trouble shooting electical is never fun. Good luck!

#1. Mine's that way too. No brake lights or horn without the key. Is that right?

#2. hmmmmmmm; wires crossed at the rear taillight connection? There are 6? single spade connectors and not a plug-type connector. Easy enough to get them back asswards.

#1 is the way the car is.

#2 sounds like something is hooked up wrong. Where? Good question. Taillight cluster, front turn signal cluster, maybe the grounds. Could be a single-filament/dual-filament bulb problem, too.

found the problem, Black blue wire was either grounding or loose jiggled it and all is fine. Thanks guys.
Tomorrow the guage electrics.
