Copper Exhaust gaskets

Ok, How do you get the old ones out to put in new one? There is no place to grab onto it while it is in the car. I got the old system out and now I want to replace the little copper rings. Any ideas???

Tap them with a hammer and punch. Or try to grab them with a small hook. Or tap the head (dead on to the ends of the fins so you don't bend or break them!) with a mallet. Or all of the above.

Clean the area up to try and get any carbon holding it together cleaned away.

Yes a right angle pick is the way to go. Steve

I ended up having to make a right-angle pry bar out of a 'small' straight slot screwdriver. I just heated the tip until it was glowing, and bent it with a pair of vise-grips, worked perfect.
