Question Ignition Coil Location

I 've been thinking about moving my ignition coil to a cooler location. Presently it's mounted to the engine tin. It gets HOT!!! Wouldn't it be better to move it to the firewall??? Or...
Thanks,
Gary

Some 914s and some VW-badged Type IVs mounted the coil on the upper front part of the fan shroud. You'll see threaded holes up there. The coil at that opint was no longer above the hot cylinders, and had some air flowing across it.
