sefetybelts

My sefety belts are sticking. They havent been used in about 8 years
. They seem to stick at the part were the pass thru at your sholder,
and are very slow to retract into the retracter part. What is the
best way to clean the the retractor and belt.

I just pulled mine all the way out, shot some wd40 on around either end of the rod that the belts roll back onto, and then pulled it in and out a bunch of times to get the stuff to loosen up. The more you use them the better they'll get.

You can use a large office-supply "binder clip" to hold the belts out, then wash them with mild detergent and water. Air dry.

I would use an actual oil rather than WD-40 when trying to lubricate the mechanism. Light 3-in-1 oil or something similar, perhaps.

Don't open up the sides of the retractor mechanism. It would allow you to clean and lube things better, but one side has a spring in it under a lot of pressure. And the springs have sharp edges. (Got the scars to prove it too!) And I don't remember which side has the spring and which doesn't!! If you can figure that out, you can pull the other cover off and clean up the ratchet and re-lube it.

If you can not get your original ones to work right, ones from a 924 will work okay and look the same.
