Not if you look at all the pictures, the engine on the floor ready to install is behind another car. Same color but different car. It also has the 2.0 emblem on the back but it is clearly a 1.8. I asked him about it and he revised the ad to say that. I am not sure that car is what he says it is. And it sure would not be worth what he is asking for it. Why would you rebuild the engine with only 21k on it? Buyer beware.

Looks like a nice car to me. I wouldn't pay $14,000 but it's probably worth more than the average 914 out there. I'm not a big fan of the 75/76 bumper style.

The car looks to be well taken care of & I hope mine looks that good someday.

Looks great - but why did it need a full rebuild if it only had 20K miles on it?

early speedos went to 120, the later ones were 150. The other ones look OK too. What do you see that isn't right? Good catch on the 1.8 and questions that need to be asked, but sometimes I think a lot of people are jaded and spend too much time trying to knock someone else's ride down. Why rebuild at 21k? Who knows. The thing probably leaked all over like most of these older T-IVs do, so as long as he was going through the trouble then might as well spruce it up. If he really was a Porsche parts place then maybe the delta in cost was pretty small.

The gauges are not original. Therefore, the mileage may not be as represented... That's why to get picky on that front, at least.

And for almost $15K, I'd want a perfect car...

uh, ~$15k for a '75 1.8L?

come again? EVER? Man that's encouraging, I could sell my 1.8L car and buy a 6.

Oh...wait...the problem of course is REALITY!

also, wouldn't the fuchs be an afterthought as well since the car isn't a 2.0L?

He is scamming somebody. I wrote to him asking how come the car with the engine behind it on the floor has a rear reflector update on it but the rest did not. He has since taken that picture out and replaced it with another one. Good catch on the gauges, they are 73/74 and not the original 75. Chrome center.

There are other problems...

The negative stripes never came in white, only black, gold, yellow, red and green...those are not even the VOA stripes...see the white area above each letter?

Also the interior upholstery is not 75 correct, its the 73-74 basketweave...

There is a major parts swap going on with this car...its everything but a 'concours, mint museum piece" that is claimed...

Watch out...

Another "alarm bell" for me is a Porsche parts dealer who cannot spell the word "Bosch" correctly.

Nope, Fuchs were an option from 73 all the way up through 76.

Yeah, I noticed the gaps and alignment didn't look so good - isn't he claiming that this car is not a re-paint? Makes me wonder.

....and what's with the green engine bar???? Notice the green overspray on the right side floor air deflector ?

...and I really like the mismatched rear tires...left one being a whitewall turned inside out...marks of a real quality job!

What the heck is a Porsche-inspired VW 1800 cc??? (a true bus motor??)

Kinda strange to post all those pics from more or less the same angle...

I always get a kick out of eBay listings which describe the features of the car as if the seller invented them or added them to the car, e.g. "Multi position race style bucket seats"...

but then again...not a terrible car, just an insane price!

Mike

Hi.

the guy ( or family) was in the car business and I suspect they had vaious parts and or cars to conjure up this car. He also has a nice looking Mustang up for auction as well. It certainly is not original which would make me question his price point. Looks nice though.

I emailed the guy with a few questions. Here is what he replied:

-----------------------------------------------------
Hi.

The Porsche has never been in an accident. The front hood is not bent. The engine was rebuilt due to age, not due to wear. We have receipts which can verify the mileage over the years. I can double check but am positive it is the correct speedometer. Only the Engine Bay has been repainted.

If you let us know where you are from, we will quote you a shipping fee where we flatbed in person.

Just to add whoever wins this Porsche will never take a loss on it provided it is kept in the same condition. We are the only owners and it has always been well cared for. She really needs to go to another good home.

Feel free to contact us at anytime.
---------------------------------------------------------

I like his last comment about how nobody will ever take a loss on this car as long as it's kept in the same condition. Who knows, maybe he'll get it. It'll help to keep prices up for all of us.
