Darling Dave

I have an AAR problem.

The hot wire was freyed, and as I was pulling it out (uhh... kinda dark!) I broke it.

I pulled out the nubby, and there is a .5" jacket left, and about a .5" stripped end, for the termination.

BR said they never repaired one, you have been inside them, what is the termination inside? Is it crimped into a connector on the heating element?

It looks as if the 'tube' the wire goes in is insulated from the body of the AAR, and possibly the wire could be pushed in the hole, and crimped in the tube, then shrink-wrapped.

If you know..

Thanks!

Miles

The wire has to go inside the "can" of the AAR without touching the metal there. I don't quite remember how it is connected inside--it might be soldered onto the resistance wire? I don't remember it having a crimp-type connector inside the housing.

I can't quite tell from the description. It sounds as if there might not be enough wire to hook up to. In which case, you probably need to open it up as described before and run some new wire.
