battery acid problems?
i think a dry cell battery would fix our tray problems.
only problem is, is that they range from 100 to 160 |

Yeah, they are big coin. Several folks got 'em, though. They really like 'em, too (of course, if I spent $160 on a battery, I'd like it too, dammit). The relative value isn't there for me since there are many other ways to spend large amounts of money on the car, and some of them might make a bigger impact on enjoyment factor. Search on "optima". Youll get some opinions...

the optima battery is quality. A good wet cell is going to run 80 bucks....an extra 40 buck over the next 4 -five years? another 4- 5 dollars a year? and now acid problems? no brainer for a 914 owner...

Anybody know how long these batteries last in high temps? Here in Arizona I'm lucky to get three years out of a regular battery.

You can get an Exide Orbital for between $90 - $95 at Sam's Club or Wal*Mart. Equal to the Optima in performance and lifespan, but at a lower price.
Don't pick the battery to cut costs on the 914; lead-acid types are fumey, they eventually leak, and whatever's left of your battery tray can use all the help it can get.
