Wheel lock removal without key
I need to get some junkyard wheels off a car that has wheel locks. Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks, Pete

Is it the type where the lock part in on the outside of the head or the inside?
You may be able to get a gator grip on it. If not, you can hammer a socket on if it is the outside kind. Or, you can find a tool guy, i.e. Snap on, Mac, etc and they do have tools made for removing wheel locks. That's the only ways I know how. Unless of couse it is the key type that you have to insert an actual key, like a master lock type key into. That is on many of the newer Porsche's and what not. These can be taken off with a chisel to reveal the lug behind it. - Brett Smith

It is the kind that has the recessed squiggly circle on the face of it. The "key" part is a nut that has the same pattern that is embossed. Your basic Manny, Moe, and Jack. Where can I find a Plasma Grenade?

I've done it this way before:
get an old socket that you could live without that almost fits over the outside of the lock. Take a BFH and pound it onto the lock. Use a breaker bar to loosen the lock. Sometimes the socket get ruined, sometimes it doesn't. |

Pipe wrench and pipe to act as breaker bar on the pipe wrench.

Description: Grenade: Handheld explosives. There are two types of grenade: Human fragmentation grenades, which explode, and Covenant plasma grenades, which emit a glowing blue blast and have a nasty way of sticking to targets. You will have to ask the Master Chief 'John Spartan' where to get one.

Although, now that I think about it, Im thinkin that the plasma grenade might be a little excessive for a wheel lock removal.

tool
KD makes such a tool; it has what appear to be "threads inside it, it just grabs the slimy chrome nut on the outside and takes hold; it works; 0r you can get a YA1005c from your local snap-on guy
