Wiring

I am in need of some really basic help here. I am restoring my 75 1.8 liter and have hit a few snags. The car is fresh out of the paint booth and I have started to put it all back together. While in the process of putting the wiper motor assembly back in, I realized that I have no idea which wires go to which terminal! I guess I didn't document it all as well as I thought....surprise, surprise. I have looked at wiring diagrams but it all looks greek to me. How do I figure out how to correctly connect the wires? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are there little numbers cast into the plug, or near the electrical connections? The ones listed on the wiring diagram are 53, 53b, 31, and possibly 31b and 53a as well. If the markings on the motor match that, you're home-free. They don't always match, however....

53 black/blue
53a red/black (and also red/white)
53b black/purple
31 brown
31b green/white

If not, then you'll probably need someone to physically look at their wiper motor and tell you which wires are hooked up where... Not a fun part to get to!!

Thanks for the info! I'll check it out today. As far as access, it is easy right now as the whole car is apart. I wanted to get the wiring correct before I mounted the assembly.

Thanks again
