I hope not.

I acquired a '90 Cadillac because of a death in the family. The thing is worth less than $3000 even in good condittion. It goes damn fast considering what the gross weight is. I keep thinking that if that Caddy engine were in a car 1/3 the weight, it would be wicked fast. I'm not one to put a Caddy engine in a 914 myself, but I wondered. I don't even know how much HP the thing has or if it has aluminum heads, block or what. I don't know if I want to know. What I do know is if it were in a compact of some sort, you'd have yourself a ride and a half. The shift mapping seems to be different than any GM car I have driven. It stays right up there "on the pipe" when you stand on the gas. Gotta neat sound too. Fun.

My good friend just bought a 90 Cadillac for 3000 from a guy who inherited the Cadi due to a death in the family. This just was last week. Would this possibly be you Zeke?

I know that Northstar conversions are fairly popular with the Fiero crowd. A good-revving 300HP engine in a 2200lb mid-engined car can't be all bad...

Actually, it was my mother who passed away. Thanks for asking.

And, no, it wasn't me that sold a Caddy.

What engine did the 90 caddy have? My condolences on your loss as well.

What I don't know about and don't care about Cadillacs could fill a book. It says '4.3' but I don't think we're talking 4300 cc. If we are, that's one fast 4.3. I had a GM 4.3 V6 at one time and this is night and day.

The one engine tranny combo that I have always been interested in is a 1989 ford taurus sho . Its on the heavy side and parts are expensive, but for a street 914 it should scary fast.

Just seams that a nice 911 3.2 is a much easier conversion. Not too hard to get 250+HP and no H20 water problems to sort out. Plus with a 911 motor, one can still go PCA racing

The 4.3 is exactly what it says, 4.3 liters but it is a V-8 and not a 6. Way more power similar to the difference between the 2.0 4 cylinder and the 2.0 6 cylinder in the Porsche world. Different bore and stroke to make more power.

Yeah, I broke down and looked it up. It is 4.3 or about 256 c.i. Has a great EFI system and even looks cool. Is the thing aluminum?
