4x100 swap
Hello All~
I have been looking into a 4x100 swap, and I was curious what I would need to know when shopping for and picking a machine shop, and what I can expect to pay? Thanks, ~Eric

Eric,
Glad to hear work has again begun (at least in your mind) on the 914. I assume that you'd just press in some studs in the space between the stock holes...just like with a 5-bolt conversion on the rear. That's what I did, however I did core exchange w/ Rich Johnson on my rears and can't recal the price. I am positive Ray at ASG could do it in an hour of labor, give him a call...or any other shop. Nathan PS: how's the 911 motor coming along?

I am throwing in the towel on the 911sc project. After pulling the heads and looking at the damage to the P's and C's it became apparent that this project would quickly turn into a $12K rebuild on a car I could buy in a better color and in better condition for $9K.
I have found a strong 2.0 motor, blueprinted, and carbed, I am working on a deal to get my hands on that motor, add to that one of red-beard's refreshed 901's, some suspension upgrades, and some new wheels (I am thinking something crazy here ), and a couple of other bits off the 911 and we are in business! And what would a thread like this be without some carnage photo's. We thought the only damage would be on #5, however that turned out not to be the case. There is also significant damage in #2, and #3 ![]()

Sorry to hear about the 3.0, but welcome back to the 914 world....
If I remember correctly Mike Mueller did the swap. -Justin

Goodness gracious that kid did a lot more damage than i ever thought! Maybe you could sell it (the car) cheap to someone wanting to do a 3.6 or something like that
BTW i know what you're getting at with the 4x100 conversion...tons of wheels out there w/ that bolt pattern...therefore more choices for backspacing etc. So you can run 16 or even 17x7 with 205 tires in stock fenders...am I getting warm?

sorry about the 911. guess that means you don't want to sell the D-jet system
. by the way, what are you going to do with the 911 carnage? (hmmm, i have an SC )

Yeah, it was a hard call to make on the SC, but it is the right move. I have someone lined up to take the engine, I was planning on cleaning up and selling the limited slip 915 (I am sure some dorki would want it) and then just selling the entire roller with what is left of the interior, suspension, wheels, brakes, etc. I am going to try to get to Tentleytown to try to clean it up this weekend.
Jim~ The D-jet is in a box, and has your name on it. The new engine I am looking at has carbs, and I was going to give those a shot for a little while. If you need any bits off the SC let me know, or you can just come over and stake your claim :-) Nathan~ How did you know!!??? I have always loved the early 1990’s Racing Dynamics wheels.. Photoshop tells me that they might look good on the car. I am driving to Warrenton to pick them up tonight!

Wow, all the way to Warr'nt'n? I was through there last week back/forth to Charlottesville. Hooked up with Case down there (914 reno still in progress, I'm happy to say) for lunch and he knows of two other 914's within a few miles of him. Stopped to snap this photo on the way back.
![]() Sorry to hear about the 911, though, had to be a tough decision. Hope you come out of it without being upside down. |

Jons Bumblebee is one of the nicest LE cars surviving. He is getting it painted soon which will make it even nicer.
That photo is poetic Jon...

It sure is nice (I've seen it up close and personal on a few occasions), and if his car is really in need of a paint job...mine needed one about 10 years ago, haha.
Oh yeah I saw the "carnage" photos of those 3.0 heads in person this weekend also. It's actually worse than the photos show, if that's possible, WOW. Nathan

Thanks, Aaron and Jeff. Nathan is too kind or he didn't look very closely at my car, lots of door dings, hood dings, and a few other patches needed but, thank goodness, no significant rust that I can find. Paint job should be done by this summer if all goes well.
