PPI needed for 914 LE in Tampa / St Pete FL

A recently discussed 914 LE in St. Petersburg, FL, closes on Monday, and the potential buyer needs someone qualified to carefully evaluate the car, and give him an informed opinion. Better that he comes to us than someone who does not know 914s. The PPI would need to be completed by this weekend.

Here is the car:

Bumblebee LE 15240

Contact potential buyer directly if you have any interest in this.

Talked to Michael, gonna go look at car Saturday, bringing my digital camera (for Michael's sake), and not too confident what I'm going to find; consider me the optomistic pessimist.

Curious to look at the receipts and find out who the builder is ("The engine was professionally rebuilt less than 4,000 miles ago ...") who installs a SINGLE #$%& CARB! Also want to sit in those corduroy-insert (Was this an option?) leather seats (look like recovered vinyl to me).

Gonna show up in my 914 and make him nervous; "Car is rust-free, huh? In Florida, huh? Mind if I just poke around? Oh, that? Just my digi-camera, so's I can click a few of this brown-colored 'undercoating' all over the battery area ... you mind?"

Bowlsby, let me know what else to look for in an "LE" ... I only own a run-of-the-mill '73 2.0L.

Boy ... went to see this car in Ft. Myers (nowhere NEAR Tampa Bay area), and it's been an email marathon between Jeff (bowlsby), Michael (prospective bidder), and me (non-certified Porsche mechanic/evaluator and enthusiast).

It got both funny and irritating, but in the end the (cautious) bidder saved himself some major $$$ from an (overspeculating) seller.

Roy, you helped educate an uninformed buyer and saved him from an overzealous seller. You also saved the seller from having to justify a cars misrepresented condition that he either was uninformed about or was plain-out lying. Your evaluation was comprehensive and right on. What a nightmare it would have been had any buyer been obligated to consummate that deal. Thankful to the seller for his unrealistic reserve amounts, I hope after careful consideration and a realistic description of condition, that a realistic price can be determined. Its still a good looing car and with repairs, that car is certainly worth a fair price to an informed buyer.

Not every LE car is worth 15 Large. One more example that even if the car is an LE, its value is only dependant on condition.

You Da Ma in my book...

GET THE #$%&@ OUTTA HERE?!!!

I just saw this LE (15240), and the owner happened to not mention that it was listed in the latest Pano for ... what ... $6.5K?

But than again, the owner DID mention that he spoke with George Hussey (of AA fame) quite regularly, so I can only imagine what was suggested when it came to eBay-ing the car ...

I realy admire the way you guys research and care for these LEs. I'm not realy a fan of the look, but I have respect for the model. Keep it up!
