Cylinder head temperature sensor

Hello All. In the ongoing quest to correct the stalling problem of my car, I purchased a cylinder head temperature sensor from Pelican. I cut the wire on the old one, removed it from my car, and installed the new one. The new sensor did not correct the problem. Back to the drawing board. My question to you now, even though I am going to keep the new sensor in the car, is will the old sensor still function correctly if I solder the wire back together? Rather than just throw it away, I would like to be able to keep it as a spare, in case I need it in the future. Thank you for your knowledgeable responses.

It will work but the solder will probably fail at some point due to all the viberation. Why did you cut it to remove it? Just use a deep socket to remove and intall the CHT.
Stalling problems can be either the timing/dizzy/advance or the MPS. Check your MPS by hooking it to a vacuum pump as it should hold 15lbs of vacuum without leaking down.
Timing should be set at 27 degrees BTDC at 3500rpms with the dizzy hoses off and plugged. Make sure the advance plate isn't sticking inside the dizzy.
