Bites from rabies-carrying vampire bats killed 13 people in a north-eastern Brazilian state last month, the health ministry said on Friday.

Except that I have heard repeatedly that stories of rabid vampire bats attacking and killing people is just myth ... apparently it's not. Next thing I'll hear is that piranha do attack humans ...

I thought the myth was about vampire bats sucking your blood.

Rabid animals aren't particularly discerning about who they bite. If a piranha had rabies, they'd probably bite you too.
