New seats
Not being able to afford some high bolster Renegade seats. I tried to make some myself.
Made the bolsters and then did the upholstery for a total of about $70. Need to start on the passenger side soon before I forget how. Bob |

You upholstered your seats yourself? Is this something that is easy to do? Did you have a kit? Please explain! I'd love to redo my seats just like you did, but I'm not sure where to begin. The local upholstery shop wants about $1000 to do it, so I would much rather do it myself. You did a fantastic job!

But after doing this I found a shop in town that will do the seats for $125 and furnish the materials on my modified bases. I may let them do the next one. Bob |

Looks good, Bob! Lot's of satisfaction from doing it yourself, too, I'd bet!
I gotta do that myself one of these days. Ed |

Bob,
Those seats look fantastic. Very cool!! How and what did you use to attach the side bolsters. What are the side bolsters made of? If I could figure that out, my local upholstry place would recover each seat for $100. Not in vynil of course. Thanks, Michel |

Oh, sorry, I spoke too soon and did not let the other photos load. Is that 3/4 inch plywood?

Its 3/4" plywood like you guessed. I bolted them on and then filled the gaps with body filler (BONDO) this sticks great to the fiberglass and plywood. I then put a couple of layers of fiberglass over it. On the next one I don't think I'll do the fiberglass they seem strong enough with the bolts and bondo. I'd also make the back bolsters a little larger.
