What do you think of these items?

I think the LED third brake-light would be a good idea.

I like my third brake light. It's off a Corvette.

Looks good. I think it's a very useful thing to have on cars as low as ours. Do you have a picture of the entire back of the car so I can get a better look?

What do you guys think of this performance fuel rail for the 914 injection system? Is it just a gimmick?

Thank you. What year Corvette - will my local GM dealer have them?

Another light that would work excellent would be one from a late model Chevy Astro van. I thought about installing one on mine. It would work perfect and not be as wide (Front to back) as the Corvette one. It could even be mounted on the underside of the roll bar. Just a thought. Good luck.

Try this for a 3rd brake light. It works unless the feds work out that the roof is removable. I cant see the point in reducing the rear vision of a 914 any more than you have to. Look closely at the centre of the roof under the lip.

$39.99 seems kinda steep, considering you can get "EXACTLY" the same light from JC Whitney for $14.99.

I like the location of the Vette light. Most of what I need to see out the back window is high - near the roll bar. In fact with the top on, I can't even see the hoods of most vehicles.

I don't know which Corvette my 3rd brake light comes from. I bought three of these lights on eBay several years ago. The first one is installed on my wife's Signal Orange car (shown above). I plan on using another of these lights on my project car. The third and last one I will probably sell on eBay but may use it on another (third) 914. Here is a pic. of the bottom of the one that went on my wife's car and pics of the two remaining lights.

Hey guys. I'm a lurker here until I get a 914 this summer (wooohooo!), but got sucked into this thread.

Anyway, i found this picture of a Carrera GT middle light:

You could make a stencel using the porsche font and some spray paint... i think it could look good.

Hmmn, I wonder what the local Porsche dealer wants for that ...

I'd prefer one that doesn't call for sheetmetal drilling. Any ideas? I'll do a search in the meantime.

With all the brain dead SUV drivers here in the northeast, I'd like do a few things so my 914 doesn't get run over.

Dave at Pelican Parts 04-20-2004 08:48 AM

I think the only way you'll avoid drilling any sheet-metal would be to use lots of double-sided tape, or to mount the light on the engine grille and hope the wires were small enough to pass through the openings in it.

Heh, or maybe get a battery-operated light with a mercury switch. Any time the car decelerates, the light will come on.... :D
