idle speed

I have a 1.8l with fuell inj and the idle speed climbs to 1500 1900 rpm after driving it. If I start to let the clutch out and the engine starts to pull I can make the idle drop and stay down about 800-100 rpm. until I stop again and it is idling high again. Any idea on a cause and solution for this?

revise that low idle to 800-1000 rpm

I bet you have an air leak in one or more of your FI vacuum hoses. If you haven't done so I would replace all the hoses to insure you don't have a leak.

Also try plugging the auxiliry air valve hose, if the idle drops..there is at least one of your leaks :)

I have a 2.0L with teh D-jet and it took replacing ALL the hoses with new to get all the leaks under control. It should run you about $40 for the hoses and well worth it :)

Bets of luck

I've done all the vac hoses so I will check plugging the aux air valve

Check the ignition timing, as well. Make sure the points plate moves freely, and that your vacuum cannister actuates the advance and the retard. (You'll need a "Mity Vac" or other vacuum source, at least for the advance.)
