Good quaility Windsheild seal available yet?
I see in the PP parts catalog that this seal (seal "S") had quality issues at one time. Anyone know if these issues been rectified? I'd like to buy one. I'll email Wayne or Dave in a day or 2 if nobody here knows.
Thanks! |

Last time I was down in the office, I asked. Tom told me that the supplier was able to pull their head out and actually correct the problems with the seal.
So you should be good to go! BTW, don't use the method I talk about in the Tech Article. I have been meaning to re-submit one to replace that... Silicone spray is not real great for rubber (glycerine is actually good for it), for one thing. Now I recommend putting one lip of the seal in and using a screwdriver or putty knife or similar implement to push the other lip into the other side of the channel that holds it, rather than trying to slide the silly thing in. --DD

Hi
I installed the PP seal this weekend. Wasn't very hard. I did it as Dave just described. I put one side in the track and just pressed the other side in with my fingers. The new seals are pretty pliable. It looks and works as desired. best Mark |

I ordered one yesterday with both targa side seals. I will post the results next week when it arrives. But I assume, as with every other product I have ever recieved from PP, there will be no problems.

Silicone attacks rubber and will degrade it. Glycerine used to be recommended by auto manufacturers for use on the rubber parts. Check in your 914's original owner's manual and you may very well see a recommendation to use it on the rubber seals every year or so!!

Doesn't glycerin also attack paint?
