Broken Fuel Tank
Hi,
In addition to my 1981 911 SC, I recently bought a 1976 914 on eBay. I am starting to restore it. The car has been sitting for 2 years so I took out the fuel tank to drain and clean it. Much to my surprise I found it had a couple of holes in it. Can these be repaired or must I find a new tank? Does anybody other than junkyards sell 914 fuel tanks? Also, it has a lot of rust. The floors and around the battery tray. How does one go about fixing these areas? Don |

rust should be removed (cut out) and repaired (weld in new panels). pelican carries repair pieces by restoration-design for common rust repair. i would bet you'd have to get a good tank to replace yours. i think that would be cheaper than, and easier than, fixing old rusty tank. i saw brad mayeur at hershey PA swap meet and he took a trailer load of gas tanks home to IL. contact him among others.

Yes I am close to you. I live near Philly. How much do you want for one tank?

I have parts from two complete 914's that had to be dismantled. (broke at the door jam and left sitting on the ground)
Don't know what their worth but I need to clear this stuff out of my storage shed. The parts are in Hoboken. Drop me a message and make me a reasonable offer at anthonyama@optonline.net , I do not check this address more than once a day so be patient and I will get back to you.

Taking care of the details of a sale is far better dealt with in direct email (click the
icon next to the person's user name) or by PM (click the icon at the bottom of the person's post).--DD
