1974 914-4 1.8L Voltage Regulator
Have been rebuilding a 1974 914-4 1.8. When I got the car the previous owner gave me 5 boxes of spare parts. Now that I'm almost done I want to replace the volatage regulator with one that is still in the box (given to me in the 5 boxes of spare parts). How can I tell if it's good or not???

Well, when you start the car the volage hops right up to 15.5 or 16 or hops up to the top of the scale when engine revs means it is bad. Bad bad regulator. very bad. Not regular at all. OK?

Voltage Regulator Testing
Some of the stores that test alternators on the bench can also test voltage regulators. Call around to several stores such as Pep Boys, Advance Auto, Checker Auto, NAPA and find out. Lyle
