engine tin the same for all 914/4s?

Somewhere along the line my 1973 2.0 lost a piece of cooling tin (according to Haynes, it is the "warm air guide left front" close to #3 cylinder). Anyway, will the same piece from a 1.7 or 1.8 fit the 2.0? Thanks.

The tin over the top of the cylinder head is different on the 2.0; it has the spark plug holes in a different location.

The tin that bolts to the left-side heat exchanger is different between the tail-shift cars (70-72) and the side-shift cars (73+). Both left and right ones change again for the late-style (75-76) exhaust.

I don't recall offhand which part it is you're talking about, but if it isn't one of those it should be the same on any 914.

IIRC, that is what the Haynes manual calls the "warm air guide". So he'll need one for the proper year.

Oops. I actually have both of the "warm air guides" (part #s 3 & 4 on Pg. 21 of Haynes) that differ depending upon the shifter and exhaust used (per Dave). What I am actually looking for is the left front "warm air duct" on page 23, part # 62 that sits near cylinder #3. From Dave's post, it appears that any year or engine would work.

Sorry about the confusion guys, and thanks again for the help.

BTW, any hints on where I could find one? Does Pelican carry used tin?

Yup, that's one of the ones that's universal.

We might be able to get one for you new, but that's not the kind of part that goes bad very easily. Used would be a lot cheaper. Check our 914 Parts For Sale BBS, and the one over on the 914club website.
