I'm a little lost, machine a .5" slot on the side of what? the trailing arm? I've thought about that, but i would rather go with something like you have, bolt on, no machining required. That way if you ever bend a trailing arm, you don't need to modify a new one.
My idea was to make a base that pushed up against the back of metal on either side of the 8x1.25 bolt hole (used for the sheet metal on the back side of the brake), and have a tab that bolts to it. Then have an arm that goes out from there and holds a caliper. It doesn't need to be super-strong, its just keeping the potential energy of the car from starting, the real strengh is stoping the car. Your thoughts?

What we discussed was making a slot in the adapter block that is used to connect the boxter caliper to the trailing arm. a .5 slot in it to accomodate the park brake caliper mount, and put it between the block and the trailing arm tab.

I got ya. That was one of my starting points, but my caliper mount won't allow me to do that. I could machine them to accept that type of mount system.
After looking at my assembled trailing arm here, i think i'm going to make a new mount that utilizes the plate that holds the bearings in, and has peices that come back out and grab onto a spot caliper. Give me a few minutes, i'll make up a sketch on Solid Works.

I discused that with Perry Kiehl last weekend. We looked at one and you have to make something to drop it behind the hat on the rotor. That's a good 3" drop. Plus you still have to be able to unbolt it to allow the caliper to be installed.

couldn't you just split the spot caliper the same way you would add spacing to get the rotor off?
almost done with the drawing...

If you disassemble the spot calipers, multple pieces fall out. It's better just to leave them together.

I looked at some hydrolic Quartermidget calipers yesterday, i'm gonna work with those and see what i can come up with for a mechanical version. Here are my pics of a mount and your style wilwood caliper. Its not 100% right because i do not have the spot caliper to work demensions off of, but its an idea. Plus my rotors aren't as deap as a 911's, so i have more room to play with offsets.

What did you design that in? What program?
Looks like something out of Pro/E

Mike, its Solid Works 2004. Perhaps the easiest program to learn with a minor understanding of CAD software. I absolutly love it.
Tim, they are as wide as a Carrera 24mm, but i can't say b/c the guy i'm developing them for wants to get on the market before we say. Its going to be much more reasonable than anyone elses kits. When that day comes, i'll spill. Thanks, Don.

check this out...
Here is a little prototype I whipped up. Part was done thursday night and part this morning......
It's a complete bolt on caliper mount that uses 944 turbo calipers and Carerra rotors. If you want to see more pictures, here is the photogallery... Caliper Mounts I am going to have 2 sets of them made up by in my friends machine shop. If anyone else is interested, contact me.

Do a search on his name and "brake". Also on "wilco brake". That'll turn you up a couple of threads with pics and words describing the setup.
