Anyone ever see this happen???
I'm trying to work the various bugs out of my system now that I have my car back together. I've put in a Crane HI6 and matched coil and optical trigger. I haven't been able to drive the car enough to know how much of an improvement this is, but it seems a major improvement over the points/permatune set up I had. I have lost my tach, and the adapter I got caused my car not to run
Anyway, I have a couple of problems. First, my new dizzy has a stripped adjustment clamp screw, so it keeps going out of timing within about 5 miles of driving. Of course, now I can't get the retaining bolt out to pull the dizzy to fix the stripped clamp bolt Meantime, when I was screwing around with that, I noticed my rotor is kind of melting which seems strange to me. Could this be from the extra juice from the HI6? Should I be concerned about this and will it eventually cause the rotor to fail? I'm wondering if I should replace this with a non-rev limiting one (especially since the HI6 has a built in rev limiter).

those high output ignitions often fry the resistor in the rotor. go to shucks and get a cheap, non-bosch replacement that doesn't have a resistor.

YOu might be suprised. You can buy fuel pumps, ignition parts, some fuel parts, cv joints, ect. I have been pleasantly suprised with finding smaller items locally, at Shucks, Napa, ect. There isn't a Porsche dealer for about 400 miles within my area, so if it is "odd" I just buy it here!

I have to say, I was a bit of a skeptic since I've never seen anyone else post a similer problem here. With all the high output ignitions out there, I would think this has been a problem for others too. Anyway, happily, it's not a problem for me anymore
