Friday Car Talk
Well... For lack of anything better to do at work other then think about my 914 here it goes.
Who here has seen the Honda 4 banger 2.0 that puts out a huge 240 horses and red lines at 9 grand? I wonder if we can get our Type Iv's to do that... [This message has been edited by Germain (edited 06-09-2000).] |

Sure you can get a type IV to turn those numbers for about $8,000 or so and then it'll live for a few thousand miles.....
I still plan on force feeding my 4, but I've been looking into different engines to convert over to when I launch the boosted engine....... ------------------ Mike Mueller Antioch, CA 1970 1.8 http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/mmueller/personal.html |

The lack of overhead cams doesn't help much. But the torque and horsepower is more closely match on the type IV verses the v-tec Honda.

Well if you want SERIOUS power, check out Pauter's web site and order one of those supercharged 3.0l monstoers that put out 900 HP or so!!!! Of course it would be good for one run or two and a stock 914 would probably come apart at the seams!!!

You can't beat good technology. The flat four dates to WWII. The Honda is the year of our Lord 2000 technology. They are apples and oranges.
Have a great weekend, neil |

The S2000 is a nice car but most reveiws tend to say it is a nicer car on te track then the street. The power range is way up into that 9000 RPM red line, and the 240 hp is only 130+ (??? maybe 150???) ft pounds of torque. The Boxster makes "only" 210 ponies but 180 Ft Lbs at much lower RPM. This translates into pushing the pedal and going vs. having turbo lag on a non-turbo car. I've also heard that the S2000 motor dosen't give the driver the impression that it wants to rev, that and how most people drive I don't think the S2000 is any more than a platform test bed. I don't see it being around in 5 years. IMHO
BTW Fridays are nice, unless you have to work at 7:30 on Sat.

Wholly Smokes Guy's.... We also have to consider the fact, that, maybe the structural body of the car will totally rip apart! I think a small gas turbine would definitely be cool...
