Maybe this car is about to become a boat anchor
I am starting to get really frustrated. After replacing the ignition switch, points, condensor, coil, and cap, I thought I might have reached the point where we could go get smogged.
Took it for a test drive, and it runs worse than ever. Idles quite nicely, thank you. But hit the loud pedal, and total misfire and BLUE SMOKE!!! Yes, checked firing order, etc. All seems in order... I wonder about the blue smoke..... Whad'ya all think? Anyone looking for an inexpensive project car?

blue smoke under acceleration could be rings, could be a vacuum hose plugged into the wrong place. 2.0 or 1.8?

Hoses are OK...Will check for leaks...
I also just noticed as the engine misfires the tach is jumping about wildly, which indicates I have electrical issues still. Hmmmm

Pls check the lil ground wire in the dist on the point plate to ground. Broken or missing will make the miss and tack go nuts. Any side to side play in the dist shaft??

Bingo! How about the main points wire, just flopping around, making contact just by association? That did it!

Double check your fuses. The 4th fuse from the right can affect the tach. I would replace it even it it looks good.
